Palghat Diocese and Evangelization in Punjab

In 2020, at the request of Mar Kuriakose Bharanikulangara the Bishop of Faridabad, the Diocese of Palghat began exploring Evangelization opportunities in the state of Punjab. By 2021, five enthusiastic priests were sent to Punjab and begin pastoral work in Civil Districts of Bathinda, Manasa, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Tarn Taran Sahib and Amritsar. Their outreach included family visits, spiritual support, and conducting prayer meetings. By the end of that year, started two communities namely, Dabwali in Bathinda District and Verka in Amritsar District. The purpose of this initiative is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to the truth – seeking and welcoming Sikh Community.

The Punjab Socio Cultural & Ecumenical Centre: Golden Jubilee Memorial

It was a milestone in the history of the diocese; to mark the Golden Jubilee of the diocese, we undertook the great task of evangelizing the people of Punjab by signing a collaboration to work for 20 years with diocese of Faridabad. At present four of our priests stay in rented houses there and work among the natives so that they also know the love of Christ the Redeemer. Their rapid and sincere response to the love of God is really commendable and encouraging missionaries. It is a great consolation that many good and zealous people of our diocese have come forward to render financial help, though not sufficient to meet the alarming increasing need.
